Ive always wondered what I would say if someone asked me, "Who are your favorite writers?" I would say, "Tolkien, Andrew Peterson, Elie Weisel, and Rachel Welcher." Your writing is like sipping something warm and soothing on a sore throat, its Turkish Delight from Narnia, is the wind in the trees when everything is getting ready for bed, its the hand hold... its so so so deeply beautiful, I have no adequate words in the endless selection of words before me... but its something that reaches the soul, speaks over the heart... its a gift.

This means the world.
Rich words for a two year old. And the rest of us.
Don’t die, unexpectedly or otherwise.
Oh my word, Rachel. Your best so far.... And an inspiration to me, as well, to consider how I might write to my own children (and grandchildren).
A tender and beautiful poem, my friend.
Thank you so much! You should write your own version (and tag me so I can be sure to see it!)
I plan on it and will do so, post haste (ish).
Everything about this is lovely
What Doug Thompson said! 👆🏻👆🏻👆🏻
Love this, Rachel. The mango!! Did the same with some tomatoes this season
Oh so good! And as a wife of 40 years, don't forget your husband is your first sweetheart!
Gorgeous x
This is beautiful. And Hildegaard, what a name! ❤️
This is very touching. If I were to write something similar, I would replace McDonald’s with Dairy Queen though 😅
Love this! I want to write one for my kids!
I love this. Beautiful!!!
I really love your poetry so much! Thank you for sharing your gift.
Love this!

Just found you (thanks substack algorithm!) and am so glad I did! Read this before church this morning and it will reshape how I go about my day.
