Oh Rachel. I needed this. Motherhood has revealed my angry heart like nothing else. And the fact that my daughter is now old enough to begin to realize it kills me. But praise be to God, the Holy Spirit is inside to help me. Thank YOU for this reminder.
Just today, our 3.5 year old asked me about why grown ups get angry and say certain things, when he isn't supposed to. So, yes, they are always watching. I love the way you framed the issue of self-control for her. Will need to use this.
Wow this is such a good way to say it to her! I'm going to try it on my middle who struggles with self control and anger. And yeah, also myself. It's so easy to let the anger take over instead of being the boss. It's hard to be the boss sometimes!
I have recently been struck by and praying through the concept of “WHAT IF I *really* let my mind (+body+actions) be *fully controlled* by the Spirit of God, as Scripture says to?? How would this affect/change this or that dilemma/difficulty?
I like how you spell it out here - anything else is slavery. This is indeed a very revolutionary and confronting idea for today’s culture and my own self-will…🙏 Thank you!
I love it. I know a special little boy who will benefit from this wisdom today. :)
Haha. It helps to encourage them to shake theirs fists at anger a little too. A common enemy!

Short but very sweet. For the Christian, self-control is Spirit-control - handing Him the reins (or reigns), over and over.
You and Evan are fabulous parents.
Oh goodness, this is so good.
